How Often Can You Have Skin Boosters?

It is one of the most common questions that comes up once someone has had their first skin booster session and liked the results. How often should I come back? How long will this last? Am I allowed to come in sooner if I want to?

The short answer is that it depends on where you are in your treatment journey. The timing looks different during a starter course compared to maintenance, and what works for one person is not the same for everyone.

The starter course: four weeks between sessions

If you are starting skin boosters for the first time, or restarting after a long gap, the standard approach is a course of two to three sessions spaced roughly four weeks apart.

The four-week gap is not arbitrary. After each session, the skin needs time to process the hyaluronic acid, rebuild its own moisture levels, and show you what that session has actually done. Booking again too soon means you are layering treatment on top of a result you have not seen yet, which makes it hard to know whether more sessions are genuinely needed or whether your skin is already responding well.

Four weeks also gives any initial swelling or redness time to fully settle, so your practitioner can assess the skin accurately before deciding whether further sessions are needed.

After a course: every three to six months

Once you have completed a starter course, the question shifts from building results to maintaining them. For most clients, that means one session every three to six months.

Where you fall within that range depends on a few things: how quickly your skin naturally turns over, how dehydrated or reactive your skin tends to be, what season it is (skin often needs more support in winter), and how much of the result you want to hold onto between sessions.

Some clients are happy with one session every six months and find that keeps their skin in good condition. Others prefer coming in every three months to stay closer to the peak of their results. Both are reasonable approaches. The right answer is whatever works for your skin and fits realistically into your routine.

Can you have skin boosters too often?

Yes, and it is worth being straightforward about this. Repeating sessions more frequently than every four weeks does not accelerate results. The skin needs time between treatments to do its part of the work, and pushing that timeline does not give you more improvement faster.

Outside of an initial course, booking maintenance sessions more often than every three months is rarely necessary and is unlikely to produce meaningfully better results than spacing them out. The goal of maintenance is to sustain what you have built, not to continuously add to it.

If you feel like your results are fading faster than expected, the more useful conversation is usually about whether a further session in the original course would help, or whether there are other factors affecting your skin's hydration levels between appointments.

When to book your next session

The easiest way to think about timing is this: book before the effect has worn off, not after. Maintaining skin quality is significantly easier than restoring it from scratch. If you wait until your skin feels as dry or tired as it did before you started, you are essentially starting over rather than maintaining progress.

Most clients find it helpful to check in with their skin around the three to four month mark after their last session. At that point the results are still there but you can usually start to feel the hydration beginning to fade. That is a good time to book rather than waiting another couple of months.

Common questions

How often can you have skin boosters?

During an initial course, sessions are typically spaced four weeks apart. After completing a course of two to three sessions, most clients move to maintenance treatments every three to six months, depending on how their skin responds and what they want to maintain.

How often should you get skin boosters?

For most clients, once or twice a year is enough to maintain the results from a completed course. Some clients with very dehydrated or reactive skin benefit from slightly more frequent maintenance, around every three months. Others find six-monthly sessions are sufficient to keep their skin looking and feeling the way they want.

Can you have skin boosters too often?

Yes. Repeating sessions too close together does not significantly improve results and can cause unnecessary disruption to the skin. During an initial course, four weeks between sessions gives the skin enough time to process each treatment and build on it. Any shorter than that and you are not giving the previous session a chance to work properly.

How long do skin booster results last?

After a single session, results typically last three to six months. After a full starter course, the improvement in skin quality tends to hold for longer because the skin's hydration levels have been genuinely rebuilt rather than temporarily boosted. Most clients find their results last closer to six months after completing a course.

When is the best time to book a skin booster top-up?

The best time to book a top-up is before you notice a significant drop in your results rather than waiting until the effect has worn off completely. Most clients find it easier to maintain skin quality with regular sessions than to restore it from scratch. A good rule of thumb is to book when your skin still looks good but you can feel it starting to lose the texture or hydration from the previous session.
